Artificial Intelligence - The Executive Briefing
LLMs only bring a benefit when they attack the bottlenecks of the industry
AI increasingly influences how customers discover, compare, and evaluate manufacturing processes.
For the foundry industry, ignoring the search aspect of LLMs is a terrible idea. The better response is to make sure AI has better casting knowledge to work with.
That means foundries need to publish more, explain more, and show more of what modern casting can actually do, so that when future customers ask AI about casting, it gets a fair answer and you get a new customer.
1. The Real Question: Is AI Helping or Hurting the Foundry Industry?
Fabian and Staffan discuss AI from a foundry and metallurgy perspective. Their point is not that AI is the enemy. The concern is that AI is already influencing how engineers, buyers, designers, and sourcing teams understand manufacturing processes, including casting.
That makes AI commercially important. It may shape customer decisions before a foundry ever gets the chance to explain its capabilities.
